Managing livestock health takes planning and consistency. We provide farm visits for cattle, alpacas, sheep and goat operations, covering everything from routine checks to emergency care. Our herd health services include pregnancy testing, artificial insemination and ongoing monitoring to support productivity.

Our Veterinarians
Dr Paul McCosker
MA, VetMB, MANZCVSc
Veterinarian
Paul graduated from Cambridge University and began his veterinary career in the United Kingdom before relocating to Australia. Throughout his career, he has worked in mixed animal practices as well as specialist equine and dairy practices. Paul enjoys all aspects of mixed practice veterinary medicine.
Outside the clinic, Paul spends much of his time caring for his Wagyu breeding cattle and supporting his wife's growing team of thoroughbred racehorses. When the wind picks up, you'll often find him out windsurfing.
Dr Derek Lunau
BVSc
Veterinarian
Derek has been working with us on Saturdays for some time and now brings his expertise to the clinic four additional days each week. During his 25-year veterinary career, he has worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Australia, including ten years as an agricultural veterinarian.
Experienced with animals of all shapes and sizes, Derek is passionate about his profession and is known for providing expert veterinary care with a naturally jovial and approachable manner.
Dr Carmen Pearson
BVSc
Veterinarian
Carmen graduated from Charles Sturt University with a strong interest in equine and large animal veterinary medicine. Since graduating, she has developed a particular passion for equine dentistry and has accumulated more rescue horses than she probably planned for—officially earning the title of "crazy horse lady."
Dedicated to ongoing professional development, Carmen has completed the EVDS Advanced Essentials Course, EVDS Virtual Internship, and both Level 1 and Level 2 EVDS Dental Courses in her pursuit of equine dental excellence.

Veterinary Nurse
Hi my name is Amy.
I have loved working as a Veterinary Nurse since 2006. although I had time off when I had my 3 children, I have over 12 years hands-on experience in Clinic.
Patient care is my top priority when I'm, working with your beloved pets. You'll find me relaxing on my days off with my animals, friends and family.
Bridget
Veterinary Nurse / Kennels
Bridget returned to veterinary nursing after spending time in a variety of other roles. Her veterinary training began in Ireland, working in mixed practice before gaining further experience in equine surgery in Somerset, England, and later within racing stables in Ireland.
She enjoys the variety that every day brings, from working dogs and fussy cats to miniature pigs, wildlife, equine surgery, and emergency procedures. Outside of work, Bridget enjoys spending time with her cows, stock horses, and her energetic Kelpie cross.
Claire
Veterinary Nurse
Claire began her veterinary nursing career in 2017, completing her Certificate IV while working in a small animal practice in Brisbane. Over five years, she progressed from trainee to senior nurse.
She has a strong interest in animal rehabilitation and physical therapy and has further expanded her skills by becoming a qualified canine hydrotherapist. Outside of work, Claire enjoys exploring the islands of Central Queensland, photography, and spending time with her family and her two dogs, Rex and Rikus.
Erwin
Veterinary Technician
Erwin is a veterinarian from Indonesia who is currently preparing for the Australasian Veterinary Examination to become registered in Australia. Before relocating, he worked as a veterinarian in Indonesia for three years, gaining experience with both small and large animals.
In his spare time, Erwin enjoys spending time with his family and tending to his vegetable garden.
Georgia
Veterinary Technician
Georgia is a qualified veterinarian from Brazil who joined Acacia Veterinary Surgery as a Veterinary Technician in 2024. She enjoys being part of a supportive and passionate team and loves contributing to all aspects of patient care.
Georgia has a strong interest in wildlife and is particularly excited to work alongside Australia's unique native animals. Outside of work, she enjoys beach days, going to the gym, and exploring everything Queensland has to offer.
Helena
Veterinary Nurse
Helena is one of our senior veterinary nurses and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining Acacia Veterinary Surgery in 2019, she worked in Chinchilla and Emerald before relocating to Yeppoon.
Her professional interests include small animal dentistry, surgical nursing, and radiology. Helena also assists Dr Paul with equine surgeries at Acacia Stables in Rockhampton.
When she's not at work, Helena enjoys horse riding, camping, and supporting her sons at go-kart racing events. She lives with her husband, two sons, her dog Freckles, and horses BoBo and Honey.
Jacoby
Veterinary Nurse
Jacoby is currently studying her Certificate II in Animal Care and plans to continue her education with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She is passionate about learning all aspects of caring for both small and large animals and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care.
Outside the clinic, Jacoby enjoys spending time with her family and her loyal red cattle dog, Bundy, exploring the outdoors together.

Kylie
Receptionist
Kylie recently relocated to beautiful Yeppoon after she and her husband sold their cattle and cropping property near Biloela. Although this is her first role within a veterinary practice, she has spent her entire adult life surrounded by animals, both large and small.
Kylie has two grown children, two Australian Cattle Dogs, and two spoiled Ragdoll cats. She enjoys meeting clients and their pets and being part of the wonderful team at Acacia Veterinary Surgery.
Leanne
Receptionist
Leanne has worked within the veterinary industry for more than 20 years, both in veterinary clinics and as a Customer Service Representative supporting practices throughout Central, Western, and North Queensland.
She loves animals of every kind and looks forward to welcoming clients and their pets while working alongside the Acacia Veterinary Surgery team.
Lynda
Receptionist
Lynda is one of the friendly faces you'll see when visiting Acacia Veterinary Surgery. Her lifelong passion for animals naturally led her to the veterinary industry, where she enjoys greeting both pet owners and their beloved companions.
At home, Lynda's fur family includes a dog, two cats, four chickens, and a horse.

Receptionist
After spending 20 years in the tourism industry, Mindy decided to pursue a career more closely aligned with her lifelong love of animals and nature. That journey brought her to Acacia Veterinary Surgery, where she enjoys welcoming clients and their pets as part of the reception team.
Mindy loves being part of a team dedicated to helping animals thrive and values the strong connection the clinic has with the local community. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the beautiful beaches and bush tracks of the region with her two dogs, Red and Pippa.
