Dr Paul McCosker MA, VetMB, MANZCVSc

Veterinarian

Paul graduated from Cambridge University. He started his career in the UK before relocating to Australia. He has worked in several mixed animal practices as well as specialist equine and specialist dairy practices. Paul enjoys all aspects of mixed practice.When not at the clinic, Paul is usually caring for his Wagyu breeders or his wife's growing team of thoroughbred race horses! If it is exceptionally windy, he'll be out windsurfing.

Dr Sarah Fisher BVSc

Veterinarian

Sarah has been a small animal and wildlife Veterinarian for 20+ years. She graduated from University of Queensland and has worked in private practice in Rockhampton, Animal Welfare League in Brisbane and has also been the Veterinary Advisor on a voluntary basis for the CQU Animal Ethics Committee for many years.

Sarah enjoys most aspects of Veterinary practice especially medicine and soft tissue surgery. She believes that it's important to be developing with current treatments within the veterinary industry, so she can deliver the best possible care to her clients 'best friends'.

When Sarah is not at work she enjoys keeping herself fit by running, gardening and looking after her small herd which includes, 2 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 chickens, 12 breeding cows and 4 horses!

Dr Derek Lunau BVSc

Veterinarian

Derek has been working Saturdays with us for a little while but we now have the benefit of his expertise on four other days of the week. In his 25 years as a vet he has worked in New Zealand and the UK with ten of those years spent as an agricultural veterinarian. He is well versed in working with literally all creatures great and small. Derek is dedicated to his profession and is able to offer his expert opinion with his naturally jovial nature.

Dr Carmen Pearson BVSc

Veterinarian

Carmen graduated from Charles Sturt University with a keen interest in Equine and large animal veterinary medicine. Since then she has acquired an interest in equine dentistry, far too many rescue horses, and has satisfied all the criteria to be a crazy horse lady!

In her quest for equine dental excellence, Dr Carmen has completed the EVDS Advanced Essentials Course, EVDS Virtual Internship and Level 1 and 2 EVDS dental courses.

Dr Kelli Stirling BVSc (Hons)

Veterinarian

Kellie graduated from The University of Queensland and worked in specialist, emergency, GP, and shelter clinics before joining the Acacia Vet Surgery as a locum vet in 2021. Kellie endeavours to go above and beyond for her patients and in her spare time enjoys playing tennis, teaching her dog tricks, and spending time outdoors.




Bridget

Nurse/Kennels

Bridget has returned to Vet Nursing after a long spell away in other various roles. Training began in Ireland in mixed practice in the midlands, moving on with further experience in Equine Surgery (Somerset England)and later racing-stables in Ireland. Briget likes the challenges that makes every day different - from working dogs to fussy cats, miniature pigs, caesarean's/prolapses, castrations/joint equine surgery, sea birds, kookaburras...anything can happen. Behind the scenes, Bridget likes hanging out with her cows, stock horses and a mad kelpie x …is where you'll find her!



Claire

Veterinary Nurse

Claire began her veterinary nursing career in 2017, completing her cert IV while working at a small animal practice in Brisbane, where she progressed from trainee to senior nurse during her 5 years at the clinic.

Claire has a strong interest for animal rehabilitation and physical therapy. She has recently extended her knowledge and passion for this particular aspect of the industry by becoming a qualified canine hydrotherapist.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys exploring the islands surrounding CQ, photography and spending time with family including her two dogs Rex and Rikus.

Helena

Veterinary Nurse

Helena is one of our senior nurses and has been Vet Nursing for over 20 years. She has worked previously in Chinchilla and Emerald, before a move to Yeppoon saw her join Acacia Vet Surgery in 2019. Her interests within the clinic are small animal dentistry, surgical nursing and radiology. You will also find Helena assisting Vet Paul for horse surgeries at the Acacia Stables in Rockhampton.

Before moving to Yeppoon, Helena and her family spent almost 2 years travelling around Australia in a caravan. In her spare time, she enjoys riding her horses and going camping but most weekends you will find her at a Go Kart track supporting her sons in their races.

Helena lives with her husband and 2 sons and has a dog named Freckles and horses, BoBo & Honey.



Lucy

Veterinary Nurse

Lucy is in the process of completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Animals have always played a large part in Lucy's life. Lucy started horse riding when she was 7 and owns two beautiful dogs who she loves to spend time walking on the beach with. Lucy's love for all animals is what led her to Acacia Vet Surgery where she can fulfil her ambition to give the best care and support to beloved pets.



Jacoby

Veterinary Nurse

Jacoby is currently studying her Cert II in Animal Studies with us and will continue on to her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Jacoby has previously worked with two well-known cutting horse trainers and is very keen to learn as much as possible, large animals and small.

She has grown up around animals and has always had a love for them. Currently owned by a horse and a beautiful, red cattle dog the majority of Jacoby's spare time is spent with them, swimming and exploring new tracks.

I have worked in the veterinary industry for over 20 years, both in Clinic and also as a Customer Service Representative for veterinary clinics throughout Central, Western and North Queensland.

I love all animals great and small, fluffy, hairy or bald. My family is my true love, however animals are a close second. I look forward to meeting clients and their pets and engaging with the wonderful team members at Acacia Veterinary Surgery, every Monday and Tuesday.

Lynda is the welcoming smile you will see when you visit Acacia Veterinary Surgery. A lifelong passion for animals has led Lynda to our reception area. Lynda loves greeting our pet parents and furbabies alike. With a furfamily of her own consisting of a dog, 2 cats, 4 chickens and a horse, Lynda fits in perfectly.
